Looking for a powerful component that protects circuits from surges and excessive voltage? Look no further than SETsafe | SETfuse. The circuit protection manufacturer is known for their innovative solutions for high standard safety and protection.
SETsafe | SETfuse offers a Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) SFV series – a nonlinear resistance component made of zinc oxide (ZnO) that protects circuits from voltage surges, electrostatic discharge, line and load switching, lightning, and overvoltage.
MOVs are known to be very effective in absorbing short term voltage transients and having higher energy handling capacities.
MOVs are used in many applications, including power supply, networking, telecommunication, lightning protection, and more.
SETsafe | SETfuse’s MOVs have peak current ratings from 0.75 kA to 70 kA and continuous voltage ratings from 14VAC to 750 VAC. These MOVs are equipped with safety certifications such as UL, cUL, TUV, and CQC, and comply with RoHS and REACH requirements.
The resistance of an MOV is sensitive to changes in the applied voltage. Below the threshold voltage, the MOV exhibits high resistance, allowing only a negligibly small leakage current to flow. Once the threshold voltage is exceeded, the resistance of the MOV drops sharply, enabling the conduction of a large current.
What does this all mean? Basically, the MOV can detect and suppress surge voltage and overvoltage – protecting the circuit from damage caused by excessive voltage.
When compared to a standard type varistor, SETsafe | SETfuse’s high surge impact MOVs uses materials with extra high performance, having impulse capacity about 30% higher than normal varistors of the same size.
